Thank you for helping to make travel safer in Camden

Thank you for helping to make travel safer in Camden

Since early May we have been gathering suggestions from residents and stakeholders from across Camden, via our dedicated Commonplace map , on where we should be making changes to our streets. We have had over 1200 comments nominating places where we should be responding to the challenge of Coronavirus (COVID-19). In particular around making it easier for people to physically distance, improving cycling facilities and reducing rat running and speeding in residential streets.

Thank you to everyone who has made a suggestion already. We are reviewing every location that has been highlighted and are working on prioritising places where we can deliver the greatest benefit and are the most practical to implement, as well as those that can help key workers, such as staff at hospitals and other NHS sites.

We are already making changes based on comments made on the commonplace map. As part of the next phase of schemes we will be installing measures to make it safer for people to physically distance and walk and cycle on our streets at the following locations:

Reducing through traffic

Prowse Place

Red Lion Street

Dane Street

Swains Lane

Footway widening

Chetwynd Road

Millfield Lane

Kentish Town Road

Hampstead High Street

Well Walk

You can find out more about these schemes and the many other changes we are making on our website https://www.camden.gov.uk/making-travel-safer-in-camden .

If you have not already made a suggestion on the Commonplace map and you would still like to do so, the map will be open for comments until midnight on 28th June. You can suggest a change on the map https://camdensafetravel.commonplace.is/ or contact us via safetravel@Camden.gov.uk / 020 7974 4444 .
